"Two hours ago I informed the Minister of Communications that I am returning my appointment to the government, because there is a limit to how much one can remain silent in the face of an absurd situation": the new head of the Second Authority Council, Dr. Ifat Ben-Hai Segev, announced this evening (Sunday) in a live broadcast on the program "The Patriots" that she has resigned from her position.

Members of the Second Authority for Television and Radio Council are the regulatory body that oversees broadcast television channels (12, 13, 14). This body is responsible for setting policy, approving changes in channel ownership, and deciding on claims regarding violations of legal conditions and licenses by the supervised players. In addition, it oversees regional radio channels. According to the Second Authority Law, council members are selected by the Minister of Communications with the approval of the government, and one of the members is designated as the chair of the authority.

Testified in the Netanyahu trial

Ben-Hai Segev faced repeated public criticism after she testified as part of Case 4000 in the trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After she changed her version of the testimony in court, the prosecution demanded that she be declared a hostile witness, as she claimed that the investigation process regarding her in the affair was improper.
