Prayed for love - and a week later he entered her life: The story born within the walls of Hadassah
Elia, a national service volunteer, met T., a young doctor who immigrated from Brazil and dreamed of finding his "woman of valor" in Israel, at Hadassah Ein Kerem. Even three months apart did not stop the relationship—and on Tu B'Av, they will stand together under the chuppah.
Within the walls of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, a place where people fight for their lives every day, a love story blossomed that Elia (20) defines as nothing less than a "miracle from heaven." Elia, who was then in the midst of her second year of national service, felt she was in a challenging period where she had to fight for every step in her life. In a moment of sincerity and prayer, she turned to the Creator in tears and asked if she would have to fight just as hard for love.
Just one week later, the department door opened, and T. (26) entered—a young doctor who had immigrated from Brazil to build his life in Israel. "He opened the door, and I, as is my habit, approached to meet the new doctor," Elia recalls of their first meeting. During their conversation, T. said a sentence that changed everything:
"I want to find my 'Eshet Chayil' (woman of valor) in Israel."
Elia smiled at him, and in response, he returned to the room and asked for her phone number. Although she initially thought the request was work-related, the deep connection was already there—in his smile and eyes that radiated sincerity, depth, and kindness. "When I looked into them, I felt I was seeing his soul," she describes.
Their relationship developed with extraordinary speed, beyond any logic of age gap or geographical distance. After a first date at Armon HaNatziv and conversations that lasted for hours, Elia felt she could finally lower all her defenses. "I felt like I had come home," she says of the feeling that next to T., she could simply breathe and be herself. The connection was so natural, as if they had known each other for years, and every piece of the puzzle simply fell into place.
Even when T. flew for three months to visit his family in Brazil, the love between them only strengthened. T. chose to give up an established career abroad out of loyalty to his dream of building a home in Israel and serving as a military doctor in the IDF. For Elia, his choice and connection to the values of love for the land and the Torah were final proof that she had found the person with whom she wants to walk through life.
Now, as they prepare to marry this coming Tu B'Av, the two look forward to a shared future of building a Jewish home and family legacy in Israel. T. will enlist in the IDF after completing his internship and will serve as a military doctor as part of the lone soldier program of Nefesh B'Nefesh and the FIDF.
