Electra Afikim has won the public tender to operate public transportation lines in the Mateh Binyamin and Ma'ale Adumim cluster, defeating bids from Superbus and Kavim. The multi-billion shekel contract spans 11 to 12 years and is valued between 1 billion and 1.3 billion NIS.

Under the new agreement, Electra Afikim will continue running vital routes connecting Ma'ale Adumim and Mateh Binyamin to Jerusalem, Kochav Ya'akov, Modi'in, Ariel, and Beit El. The transport network will be serviced by a fleet of approximately 290 buses, featuring upgraded services on existing lines and the introduction of new routes, such as line 172 connecting Ma'ale Adumim directly to the Jerusalem Central Bus Station.

Idan Moalem, CEO of the National Public Transportation Authority, praised the outcome.

"In accordance with the policy I have promoted, companies with the highest performance scores hold the greatest chance of winning the process. This is how we will maintain high service quality within the industry."

The transition will be rolled out in two distinct stages. The first phase, encompassing 30 lines, will launch in approximately 9 months, while the remaining routes will be integrated within 21 months.
