Elbit Systems, the country's largest defense company, has announced the signing of contracts with an international client totaling approximately $270 million. The order focuses on surveillance, intelligence gathering, and target acquisition (ISR & Targeting) systems, with an execution period of up to six years.

The contract includes systems from the SPECTRO family and the derived AMPS NG systems. These act as sophisticated "eyes" for aircraft, naval vessels, and military vehicles, utilizing electro-optical sensors, laser target designators, and AI-based analytics. They are designed to detect, track, and lock onto targets at long ranges in all weather conditions—a product category that has seen surging global demand in recent years.

While a $270 million order is not transformative for a company with annual sales exceeding $9 billion, it reinforces the company's robust order backlog, which is a primary metric for investors.

In its second-quarter report, Elbit reported a backlog of approximately $32 billion, roughly 3.5 times its annual revenue. This provides clear revenue visibility for years to come. Notably, about 73% of these orders originate from outside Israel, linking the company's growth to the global wave of rearmament rather than solely to local security needs.

The company's quarterly performance was strong, with revenue climbing 16% to $2.29 billion and net profit jumping 38% to $173.6 million. This profit growth was achieved despite an increase in the effective tax rate from 5.6% to 16.4% due to global minimum tax regulations, driven by improved operational profitability.

Elbit remains one of the largest companies on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, ranking fifth in market value behind Palo Alto, Teva, Leumi, and Poalim. As a significant component of major indices, many investors are indirectly exposed to Elbit through pension funds and savings plans.

However, investors should remain mindful of risks. Much of the demand is driven by geopolitical instability, which, while fueling orders, also introduces supply chain risks and uncertainty. A shift toward global stability could potentially cool the current pace of order growth.

Bezalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems, stated:

"Elbit Systems is a global leader in the field of surveillance, intelligence gathering, and target acquisition payloads, and provides modern armed forces with a comprehensive portfolio of advanced capabilities, designed to meet a wide range of operational requirements. Through our innovative technologies, we enable our customers to improve situational awareness, intelligence gathering capabilities, and mission effectiveness in today's complex operational environments."
