El Al In-Flight Entertainment Head Tal Calderon Steps Down After 20 Years
Tal Calderon, El Al's head of content and in-flight entertainment, is stepping down after 20 years. He plans to continue working in global aviation as a strategic consultant.

Tal Calderon, head of content, entertainment, media, and internet departments at El Al Israel Airlines, has announced his departure after two decades with the national carrier. His tenure will officially conclude at the end of December. Following his exit, Calderon plans to continue operating in the global aviation industry as an entrepreneur and strategic consultant.
With a professional background spanning some four decades in media, content, and entertainment—half of which were spent in the aviation sector—Calderon is a member of the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. He originally transitioned to El Al from the local broadcasting industry, where he worked for years as a director and producer. This move allowed him to merge his production expertise with advanced technologies, innovation, and user experience (UX).
During his 20 years at El Al, Calderon spearheaded the airline's international media relations, collaborating closely with Hollywood studios, broadcasters, content creators, and global technology suppliers. He was responsible for selecting and acquiring thousands of hours of Israeli and international content featured on flights.
Alongside content management, Calderon led the upgrade of in-flight entertainment systems, user interfaces, and connectivity services. In recent years, he directed complex technological projects, most notably developing a new entertainment interface for the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet and overseeing the integration of Starlink high-speed satellite internet.
"For me, the passenger experience has always been much more than just watching a movie during a flight," Calderon stated. "The challenge was to connect high-quality content, technology, and innovation, transforming flight time into an enjoyable and meaningful experience."
Regarding his future plans, Calderon emphasized that he intends to remain active in the aviation sector. He will focus on consulting for airlines, technology companies, and content providers, alongside developing innovative entertainment applications and content ventures for aircraft.
