Hapoel Tel Aviv owner Edmond Safra has publicly criticized the creators of the popular football game for excluding the Israeli club from their latest roster.
Edmond Safra, owner of Hapoel Tel Aviv, remains deeply involved in the club's affairs and frequently shares his thoughts on the team via social media. Recently, the American owner used a post regarding the popular football game EA FC 27 to take a jab at the developers for failing to include Hapoel Tel Aviv among the new teams added to the game.
Safra shared news on X regarding the addition of Omonia Nicosia and Ludogorets to the "Rest of World" category, tagging the official EA SPORTS FC account. He wrote:
"I mean we absolutely destroyed them. Like it wasn’t even close. Please let me know, how much more do we have to win to be included?"
Safra's comments follow Hapoel Tel Aviv's 4:2 aggregate victory over Ludogorets in the Conference League qualifiers. From the owner's perspective, this performance serves as further evidence that the team deserves a spot in the game, especially given their ongoing European campaign.
Since acquiring Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2023, Safra has made no secret of his ambition to return the club to the pinnacle of Israeli football. As part of efforts to bolster the squad, the "Reds" have made several significant moves in the transfer market this summer, including the signing of Douglas Owusu.
Simultaneously, the team continues its European journey. Hapoel Tel Aviv reached the third qualifying round of the Conference League after a 2:0 victory over Poland's GKS Katowice in the first leg. Should they advance, they are expected to face Italy's Atalanta.
