Worth about 3 million shekels: Police confiscated trucks and forklifts in Rahat
As part of an investigation against a resident of Rahat, police and enforcement authorities raided a logistics complex suspected of being used to conceal goods. Two trucks and two forklifts worth millions of shekels were seized at the site. An illegal resident who tried to escape after getting off a forklift was detained for questioning.
Two trucks and two forklifts with a total value estimated at about three million shekels were seized on Tuesday during a police operation at a logistics complex in the Rahat area. The police suspect that the complex was used, among other things, to conceal goods and that it was being used in a manner exceeding the permitted land use.
The operation was conducted as part of an investigation against a resident of Rahat. Officers from the Negev District's Money Laundering Division and Rahat police station arrived at the complex along with representatives of the Land Enforcement Authority and the Tax Authority, including VAT and Enforcement and Collection Authority officials from Be'er Sheva.
During the inspection of the complex, a suspicion arose that the area was being used contrary to the permitted purpose. At the same time, the officers noticed a person, who according to the police is an illegal resident, getting off one of the forklifts and trying to flee the scene. The officers detained him and he was transferred to the Rahat station for further questioning.
As part of economic enforcement measures, the forces seized two trucks and two forklifts. The vehicles were towed from the complex as part of actions taken against assets and infrastructure suspected of being used for illegal activity. The operation joins the economic enforcement efforts of the police and other authorities in the southern region, in which the seizure of assets and vehicles is used alongside criminal investigations to damage the economic infrastructure suspected of being used for criminal activity.
