From critical injury in Jabalia to the chuppah: Yotam Asban got married
Yotam Asban, a resident of Beit El and a graduate of the Mercaz HaRav and Beit Orot yeshivas, stood under the chuppah this evening (Monday) with Rinat — more than two years after he was critically wounded in the head during fighting in Jabalia in the Gaza Strip. Asban served in the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Unit and was wounded in May 2024 in a friendly fire incident, when the force he was operating with was hit by tank fire. The severe injury led to a long rehabilitation period, at the end of which he returned to himself and reached the joyous moment of establishing a home in Israel.

Rachel Moshkovitz, CEO of the "Lechisha" theater and acting school, wrote about the moment:
"I write here about prayers for the healing of the wounded, I love writing here about joyous occasions, and most of all I love writing about the joys that come after the prayers."
The match born from a circle of the wounded
Moshkovitz said that the story of how Yotam and Rinat met is also connected to the circles of kindness that were created around the wounded of the war. According to her, the person who introduced them is someone who accompanies and supports the wounded, and who had previously also introduced Rinat's brother — who was also wounded during the war.
From the acquaintance with Rinat, the match with Yotam was subsequently born. "Circles of good. Circles of kindness. Circles of a miracle. Miracle and gratitude. Mazal Tov, Mazal Tov!!", wrote Moshkovitz.
Already in May, Yotam and Rinat announced their engagement and wrote: "Arise, King, Royal City, rise from the upheaval. With gratitude to God for all the good, we are happy and excited to announce our engagement — Yotam and Rinat."
The President and his wife also sent their blessings
Ahead of the wedding, the two received a special blessing from the President of the State, Isaac Herzog, and his wife Michal. Herzog told them: "We are very excited on your wedding day and wish you the most happiness in the world."
The President's wife referred to Yotam's rehabilitation journey and said: "We also remember the great difficulty that Yotam is overcoming, and we wish you from here on out only joy, happiness, and good health."
Herzog also referred to Yotam's mother, Michal Asban, founder and chair of the "Ima Lavia" (Lioness Mom) association, which brings together hundreds of mothers of wounded IDF soldiers, and wished the couple to build a faithful and happy home.
