Shocking details: blood spatter on the ceiling in brother's murder case
The Hadera Magistrate's Court has extended the detention of Ohad Arad, suspected of murdering his brother Asa, for the fifth time. The judge ruled that the suspicion against him has reached a "very high intensity."
The Magistrate's Court in Hadera extended the detention of Ohad Arad today (Thursday) for the fifth time, granting an additional four days. The Binyamina resident is suspected of murdering his brother, Asa, at their family estate in Moshav Ein Ayala. Judge Ehud Kaplan stated in his ruling that the reasonable suspicion against the suspect has strengthened significantly.
During today's hearing, Judge Kaplan rejected the request for release filed by the suspect's defense attorney, Baruch Gideon. The judge also refused to reduce the duration of the detention requested by the police.
"The suspicion has strengthened significantly with each extension, and today it is at a very high intensity," Judge Kaplan reasoned. After reviewing the classified investigation file presented by Chief Sergeant Major Ejen Abramov of the Menashe District Investigation Unit, the judge concluded that there are "clear indications of intentional killing." Judge Kaplan further noted that the suspect's dangerousness is underscored by his criminal history.
Shocking forensic details from the crime scene were revealed during the hearing. When questioned by the defense about bloodstains, the police representative stated: "I can confirm that blood spatter was found on the walls and reached the ceiling."
The investigation is on the "final stretch"
Police officials stated that the investigation is now in its final stages. The police have received a third set of instructions from the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office to complete specific investigative tasks. According to the police, testimony from both new and previous witnesses has further solidified the case against Ohad Arad. During his most recent interrogation, Arad was confronted with all evidence regarding the premeditation of the crime.
Defense attorney Baruch Gideon expressed frustration that his client has been detained for three weeks without a final pathological report. The police explained that they are in daily contact with the forensic institute awaiting the final results. The police representative also dismissed the defense's theory that an injury on the late Asa Arad's forehead supports the claim that he fell forward, stating: "There are numerous injuries, but the forehead injury is not mentioned in the findings."
"Even after three weeks, we have yet to receive the final pathological opinion, which is essential for clarifying the circumstances of the death," Adv. Baruch Gideon told Walla. "My client denies using violence and stands by the version of events he provided from the start. There are evidentiary and forensic questions that we will present to the court in due time. It is premature to draw definitive conclusions before the investigation is complete," he said.
