Roy Revivo is in advanced negotiations to leave Maccabi Tel Aviv. According to sources close to the player, the late-night developments at Kiryat Shalom may result in the Israel national team defender not flying today (Tuesday) with the squad to Batumi for the UEFA Europa League qualifier against CSKA Sofia. Should he remain in Israel, Shahar Rosen is expected to start in his place.
Revivo was determined to leave Maccabi Tel Aviv as early as last summer, but an offer of less than three million euros from Denmark's Copenhagen was rejected by the club, which set a four-million-euro price tag. The player's camp still considers this an exceptionally high demand for a defender coming from the Israeli league, especially since he does not yet hold a European passport. Revivo's process of obtaining Portuguese citizenship is currently delayed.
Even if Maccabi Tel Aviv insists he participate in the matches against CSKA Sofia, it is expected that his move abroad could materialize immediately afterward.
