Dog Rescued from Concrete Drainage Pipe in Tennessee After Days Trapped
A trapped dog was successfully rescued from a concrete drainage pipe in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after employees heard whimpering sounds. Animal shelter workers and public works teams freed the dog, now named Georgie, and are searching for his owners.
Employees at a donation center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, heard mysterious whimpering sounds echoing from deep within the building for days. Upon investigating, they discovered that a dog had fallen into a drainage pipe, becoming trapped in a nearly inaccessible area surrounded by concrete without any way to escape on its own.
The incident took place at the Goodwill donation center on Dodd Memorial Avenue. Realizing an animal was in distress, the staff called for help. Rescuers from the McKamey Animal Center arrived, but it quickly became clear that saving the dog would not be easy, as the pipe was located in a spot that required breaking through concrete.
Teams from the Chattanooga Department of Public Works soon joined the rescue efforts, using heavy equipment to break away the concrete surrounding the pipe and create an opening for the rescuers. The dog, named Georgie, was safely extracted and taken to the McKamey center for veterinary care and observation.
Rescue officials expressed optimism about his recovery, noting that he is currently undergoing medical evaluations. Authorities are now searching for Georgie's owners and have asked the public for assistance in identifying him and sharing his photos, while thanking the vigilant Goodwill employees and public works crews.
