The Southern District Planning and Building Committee approved the Ministry of Construction and Housing plan for the "Narcissus Quarter" (Rova HaNarkisim) in Dimona. The project includes approximately 1,060 housing units in a diverse mix, alongside public, educational, and community institutions, local commercial areas, and a plot designated for a 250-room hotel. The units are scheduled to be marketed later this year to address high housing demand in the city.

The new quarter combines low-rise ground-adjacent construction and multi-story residential buildings, supported by quality public transportation and bicycle paths. The planning emphasizes creating a comfortable, shaded, and walkable living environment adapted to local topography and the desert environment. A central component integrates the new quarter with the natural surroundings while preserving the adjacent Narcissus Nature Reserve, featuring observation points and trail connections.

Ministry of Construction and Housing Director-General Yehuda Morgenstern stated that the approval is another step in expanding housing supply, strengthening Dimona, and developing the Negev. Chief Architect Timur Magerli noted that the plan presents a high-quality design concept balancing urban development with the preservation of natural desert landscapes. Southern District Planner Michal Meril highlighted the precise balance between modern development and the protection of unique natural resources.

Dimona Mayor Beni Biton called the approval a milestone reflecting the city's tremendous development momentum. The project not only provides an immediate response to massive housing demands with 1,060 diverse units to be marketed this year, but will also boost tourism and the local economy through the new hotel, blending modern infrastructure with strict preservation of the Narcissus Nature Reserve.
