Two and a half years after the heavy loss: Shlomo Scharf awarded prestigious prize
The 2026 "Pioneers' Badge" award has been presented to individuals who have left a lasting mark on the Zionist enterprise. The list includes Knesset members, public figures, cultural icons, and social activists who have helped shape Israel.
The World Sephardic Federation, led by former minister Prof. Shimon Sheetrit and with the blessing of World Zionist Organization Chairman Yaakov Hagoel, has unveiled the list of 50 recipients of the 2026 "Pioneers' Badge." The award ceremony is scheduled for August 2, 2026.
The "Pioneers' Badge" is a central initiative aimed at honoring the contributors to the Zionist enterprise—from the builders of the state and founders of development towns to leaders in science, public service, security, and culture who continue to strengthen Israel today.
Among the award recipients are many prominent figures, including public activists, politicians, and cultural icons. One of the most notable names on the list is the former Israel national team coach Shlomo Scharf, alongside Einav Zangauker, actor Sasson Gabai, singer and actress Einat Sarouf, musician Micha Biton, and culinary expert Shay-Li Lipa.
The list of politicians and public figures includes: Omer Bar-Lev, MK Naama Lazimi, MK Eliyahu Dalal, MK Devora (Debi) Biton, MK Moshe (Kinley) Tur-Paz, former MK Dr. Aliza Lavie, former minister Dr. Nachman Shai, former minister Moshe Nissim, and Edna Halbani, who served for approximately 50 years in the Prime Minister's Office.
Federation President Prof. Shimon Sheetrit stated:
"The 2026 list of winners is a mirror image of the entire Zionist enterprise—from the generation of founders, through the people of spirit and law, to the pioneers of science and medicine. It is our duty to give these pioneers the respect they deserve and to pass on their legacy to future generations."
World Zionist Organization Chairman Yaakov Hagoel added:
"The 'Pioneers' Badge' connects three links: the first pioneers who laid the foundations, the pioneers who built the development towns and neighborhoods, and the continuing pioneers who are realizing the Zionist vision today."
