Mourning in the Israeli Sports World: Elite Cyclist Passes Away at 30
Noa Boruchovich was one of the country's leading cyclists and represented Israel in international competitions. She twice won the Israeli national title and was a prominent professional athlete. Later, she joined the Israel Police and served in a significant capacity.
The sports world in Israel is mourning the passing of one of its cycling legends. Israeli national team rider Noa Boruchovich passed away this week at the age of only 30. Noa was one of the leading cyclists in Israel in the previous decade, a national champion in various categories, and represented the national team in numerous competitions abroad. She will be laid to rest today (Friday) at 12:00 at the military cemetery in Modiin.
She began her path in the 500 Watt team, and later also rode for the Dynamo team. She displayed high capabilities in both time trials and road racing. In 2014, she was crowned Israeli youth champion, and later won the national title in the under-23 category as well. Subsequently, she was included in the rosters of various Israeli national teams.
Israel national team coach Niv Livner eulogized her:
"Beyond the excellence that characterized Noa in everything she turned to, in sports and outside of it, it was impossible to miss the positive attitude and the energy she brought with her to every team. Noa will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to be her teammate in any framework."
Even after retiring from professional sports, she remained in the field and served as a coach. At the same time, she joined the Israel Police and served as an investigator in the Crime Fighting Unit (YALAP) of the Central District with the rank of Staff Sergeant (Samar). In addition, she was a gifted piano player, as part of her many skills.
