Democrats Party Petitions Supreme Court to Demand Security for Yair Golan

The Democrats party filed a petition with the Supreme Court on Tuesday demanding that Shin Bet head David Zini and the government provide security for party chairman Yair Golan. In addition, Yashar! chairman Gadi Eisenkot also remains without security.

The party stated that Golan remains unprotected despite police classifying the threat level against him as high. The petition includes chilling examples of concrete death threats against Golan, noting that leaving him without security exposes him to severe danger and impedes his ability to campaign freely.

Justice Minister Yariv Levin, who heads the ministerial committee on Shin Bet affairs, empowered the agency nearly two weeks ago to independently determine security measures for civilian party leaders without protection. No decision has been finalized since.
