Disappointment at Ben Gurion Airport: Aviation giant cancels all flights to Israel until March 2027
Thousands of Israelis were disappointed to learn of the continued cancellation of the flight route connecting Tel Aviv and Lisbon. TAP Air Portugal, which was scheduled to return in about a month, has decided to postpone its resumption of service to the country.
Many foreign airlines canceled their flights to Israel following the outbreak of the war. However, recently, with the arrival of the summer season, a certain recovery was felt at Ben Gurion Airport as foreign companies began to slowly return to Tel Aviv.
One of the companies that chose not to return yet is the Portuguese airline TAP Air Portugal, which announced that all its flights on the Tel Aviv-Lisbon route will not resume until at least March 27, 2027. Previously, the cancellation was in effect until September 15, but the company has now extended its absence from the country.
The company announced that passengers holding flight tickets are entitled to one change at no cost and without charging price differences on the same route. The concessions apply to flights operated by TAP and TAP Express.
"Passengers eligible for the updated policy will be able to make one change to their booking at no cost, and in addition, it is possible to choose a new travel date, as long as it is within the validity period of the ticket," the statement read.
TAP Air Portugal joins the move by American Airlines, which announced last month that it would not resume operations on the direct route between New York (JFK) and Tel Aviv before March 27, 2027.
As previously reported, the Canadian airline Air Canada also announced the extension of its flight cancellations to Israel until mid-January 2027. The company had planned to return to Ben Gurion Airport on October 24, 2026, but postponed the decision again, leaving thousands of Israelis without a direct flight route to Canada.
