For eight months, their relationship seemed like a success story. The couple shared their time between joint trips, deep acquaintance with families and friends, and an emotional connection based on a similar lifestyle. "We were a good couple. Like those people look at and say, 'Wow, they are a perfect match'," Greenberg described those days.

However, beneath the smiles and the harmony, gaps began to emerge. Their behavioral patterns clashed, and instead of enjoying the connection naturally, the partners found themselves immersed in exhausting analytical conversations about their problems. In the absence of tools to deal with these challenges, the painful decision was made to separate.

Insight in therapy: identifying the avoidant pattern

For Greenberg, this breakup was not like past ones, which she had previously experienced as a "total death" that left no room for looking back. This time, she chose to stop and dive into the depths of her soul with the help of the psychologist who has been accompanying her for over five years. The therapeutic process brought to the surface old wounds that were still managing her reactions and led to a significant discovery: identifying characteristics of an "avoidant attachment style." This pattern is expressed in an extreme need for independence, a tendency toward emotional distancing when getting too close, and an inherent fear of intimacy.

"The moment I understood this... a lot of things became clear to me and I knew that this was my starting point, which is excellent," she shared.

She also added: "During the breakup period, I dove deep into my soul with my psychologist. Every breakup I had was, for me, absolute; there was no point in looking back at all. More than anything, I wanted to understand from what place I was even entering relationships and where my choices come from. I think that after five years of therapy, the last few months were the most significant. I understood that I was still dealing with past wounds from previous relationships that I didn't really stop to ask about. I was in a loop for several years just to weaken the pain."

The comeback: new rules for an old-new game

The understanding of emotional patterns led Danit to the conclusion that she wants to examine the shared path with Mani from a new angle. The couple decided to give love another chance, but this time while defining boundaries that are completely different. To prevent further overwhelm, they agreed that they would proceed with maximum caution.

"We decided that we would take it at the slowest pace possible," she explained.

Instead of rushing and planning grandiose future plans, the two chose to focus on internal listening, continuous personal work, and turning every meeting into a heart-to-heart conversation free of baggage. The new approach is based on full openness and uncompromising honesty, as Greenberg summarized: "We put everything on the table and didn't keep it inside like we did in the relationship, and from here it's just about developing and nurturing it."
