Immediate Threat to Life: Closure Order for Major Food Warehouse
Following a joint surprise inspection in Segev Shalom, law enforcement agencies ordered the immediate closure of a wholesale warehouse due to severe fire safety violations and a lack of fire suppression equipment.
An administrative closure order has been issued for a wholesale food warehouse in Segev Shalom. During a joint surprise inspection, authorities discovered critical fire safety deficiencies at the facility. The site was operating without fire department approval, maintained an excessive fire load in an underground storage area, and lacked necessary fire suppression equipment. The Southern District Commander ordered its immediate closure.
Southern District Fire and Rescue Commander, Tafsar Itzik Oz, signed an immediate administrative cessation order for the "Bnei Anwar Food Marketing" wholesale warehouse located in Segev Shalom. The order mandates the immediate closure and cessation of all operations at the site for a period of 30 days.
The decision followed an inspection conducted by a fire safety officer from the Be'er Sheva regional station, as part of a coordinated operation involving the Israel Police, the Segev Shalom station, the Civil Prosecutor's Office, the Fuel Administration, the Ministry of Labor, and other regulatory bodies. The inspection revealed a series of serious violations, including operating the business without required fire department permits and failing to notify the National Fire and Rescue Authority.
Furthermore, inspectors found that extensive goods were stored on the premises, including in an underground level, creating an exceptionally high fire load without the legally required fire protection and suppression systems. The fire department stated that the combination of these violations posed an immediate and real threat to the safety and lives of individuals inside the building and in the surrounding area.
"When we identify serious deficiencies that create a real and immediate danger to human life, we will act with all the tools at our disposal, — said District Commander Itzik Oz. — Public safety is not subject to compromise. Cooperation between all enforcement agencies allows us to identify risk centers and act to remove them before a disaster occurs."
The Fire and Rescue service emphasized that joint enforcement operations will continue with determination to ensure compliance with safety standards and prevent future catastrophes.
