Dan Shilon explodes at Sharon Gal on live broadcast: "You are a piece of an idiot"
The sharp confrontation in the i24NEWS studio spiraled out of control after Sharon Gal confronted Dan Shilon with a shared post comparing Benjamin Netanyahu to Nicolae Ceaușescu. Shilon refused to back down, defended his position, attacked the interviewer – and the conversation ended in an exchange of accusations and personal barbs.
A particularly sharp confrontation developed live on the i24NEWS channel between media personality Dan Shilon and host Sharon Gal, after Gal asked him to address a post he shared on social media, in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trip to Washington was compared to the flight of former Romanian ruler Nicolae Ceaușescu.
At the beginning of the interview, Gal read the text of the post, but Shilon was quick to clarify that he is not the author of the words. According to him, it is a post written by another person, which he chose to share. However, he emphasized that he identifies with its content.
When Gal asked if he thinks it is legitimate discourse to compare Netanyahu to Ceaușescu while he is in the United States for a diplomatic visit, Shilon replied that he stands by his position and asked to explain his criticism of the visit to Washington. According to him, the meeting with the President of the United States was, in his words, "one of the shittiest meetings ever of any leader with a President of the United States."

As the confrontation continued, Gal returned time and again to the question of whether the comparison to Ceaușescu is justified. Shilon, for his part, argued that his criticism is not about the Romanian ruler himself, but about a Prime Minister who, according to him, is "not clean-handed." When asked if he defines Netanyahu as corrupt, he replied: "I did not say 'corrupt', I said 'not clean-handed.'"
During the conversation, Shilon accused the channel of "doing the work of a channel on behalf of someone," and even referred to the ownership of the channel. Gal rejected these claims and continued to insist on receiving a direct answer to the question of the comparison to Ceaușescu.
After Gal repeated the same question again, Shilon lost his patience and lashed out at him: "Tell me, do you know that you are a piece of an idiot? An idiot, I have no other word!" Gal replied briefly: "Okay, explain," but Shilon asked to move on to talk about the visit to Washington and not the post.
The confrontation did not end there. Later, Shilon called the channel's staff "a bunch of idiots," after claiming they continued to focus on the same issue instead of dealing with other topics.
Towards the end of the interview, Shilon rejected the claim that he is motivated by hatred for Netanyahu. According to him, for years they had a good relationship and he even appreciated his abilities, but he claims a change occurred in him. "Until he spoiled. What can you do, he spoiled," he said. When Gal replied to him: "Maybe you spoiled?", Shilon answered: "True, I spoiled, I sobered up."
The conversation ended in a tense atmosphere, as both sides exchanged further barbs, and Shilon concluded with the claim that the channel "serves its owners," while Gal thanked him for the interview and signed off.
