Crisis in Tel Aviv District: Ayalon sub-district commander resigns in protest over police officer's dismissal

Ayalon sub-district commander, Brigadier General Daniel Hadad, is expected to resign from the police in the coming weeks in protest against the dismissal of Holon station commander, Colonel Eliad Lankri. Recall that Tel Aviv District Commander Haim Sargrof dismissed Lankri last week following what police sources called "professional and managerial failures discovered in the station's functioning."
According to the police statement, the decision was made after an inspection conducted in the district, during which "deficiencies were raised regarding, among other things, the station's work plan, its conduct, and the functioning of the station commander." Sources in the Tel Aviv District emphasized at the time that "the decision was made on a professional basis only."
However, the resignation of the Ayalon sub-district commander, which a senior police official defined as an "act of support for the Holon station commander" who is under his command, raises questions in this regard. Now, in any case, Sargrof's decision is no longer limited to replacing a station commander, but is causing a change in the command echelon of the entire Ayalon sub-district. The Israel Police stated last week: "In light of gaps and professional failures that arose in the station at the managerial level, Tel Aviv District Commander, Major General Haim Sargrof, recommended the immediate termination of the Holon station commander's role."
