"There is no video that shows what his part is": Adv. Sapir Pardo, hired to represent the family of Eldar Dayan, who disappeared about two weeks ago, is harshly criticizing the conduct of the investigation and the public discourse on the matter.
According to her, even before the facts were clarified, Dayan was labeled as someone who committed a serious offense without any supporting evidence.
"Beyond the great injustice done to Eldar and his family, his character has already been assassinated. People decided he is a criminal, even though no one yet knows what really happened. While his mother has been searching for him for two weeks and fears for his life, she is forced to deal with public accusations as well," claims Adv. Pardo.
Pardo emphasizes that at this stage there is no documentation showing Dayan's role in the incident: "There is a vehicle with a broken windshield and blood findings, but there is no video that shows what his part is. No one knows if Eldar is even alive, and it is unclear if he was an attacker, was attacked, or was not involved at all." According to her, even those arrested in the affair do not link him to the case. She added that there is no basis for the claim that he is fleeing from law enforcement.
The lawyer attacked:
"The Israel Police will have to answer for the way this failed procedure is being managed. At the moment there is no crime victim, no video documenting the incident, and no one claims to have been harmed by him, and despite this, the police have already determined that it is a 'hit and run'."
Pardo clarified that the family will not hesitate to take legal action if it turns out that he was harmed as a result of the authorities' conduct.
The Eldar Dayan disappearance case: The latest developments
The disappearance of the 23-year-old two weeks ago is stirring the country. At the center of the investigation is a scene in Petah Tikva where an abandoned car was found with a shattered windshield and blood stains, leading the Israel Police to open an investigation on suspicion of involvement in a hit-and-run incident.
As part of the investigation, several suspects were arrested, but so far no definitive version has been revealed that explains Dayan's whereabouts. While the police suspect that Dayan has gone underground, his family rejects these claims, suggesting he may be injured or being held against his will. This week, the police changed Dayan's status from "missing" to "wanted for questioning".
