A blow to Eyal Nagar and the Bakri organization: elite forces raided the cells of the largest criminal organizations in Israel

The Israel Prison Service (IPS) carried out a large-scale operation this week against elements identified with criminal organizations, during which special forces operated in all criminal prisons across the country, alongside enforcement activity against criminals under supervision outside prison walls.

It was learned by Maariv that the activity focused mainly on elements belonging to the Bakri organization, one of the senior criminal organizations in the Arab sector in Israel, as well as a criminal organization headed by Eyal Nagar. As part of the operation, targeted searches were carried out in cells and wings where prisoners identified with the organizations are held, with the aim of damaging their capabilities and influence within the prisons.

Forces from the elite "Masada" unit, the IPS special forces, the "Nahshon" unit, "Yamaz", "Malamk", intelligence arrays, and prison guards participated in the activity, operating in several detention facilities in various districts. Parallel to the activity behind the walls, the "Maoz" unit in the alternative incarceration and supervision division carried out targeted enforcement activity against six individuals under electronic monitoring identified with criminal elements.

During the searches, prohibited items and substances were located and seized, including a substance suspected to be a drug, several improvised shivs, and medical pills. All findings were transferred for further examination and handling.

In the IPS, it was stated that this is part of an ongoing effort to reduce the capabilities of criminal elements and damage their ability to continue managing criminal activity from within detention facilities and outside them, through a combination of operational, intelligence, and supervisory activity. It was further stated that the Israel Prison Service will continue to act to thwart criminal activity, prevent the possession of prohibited items, enforce supervision conditions, and strengthen governance in prisons.
