Technical connection with complete independence: Saglovich's demands from Mansour Abbas

Negotiations regarding the joining of Ra'am by Yoav Saglovich, an outgoing MK from Yesh Atid, are set to begin tomorrow, Tuesday. Saglovich seeks the number two spot on the Ra'am list, following party chairman Mansour Abbas, while remaining outside the party itself. Consequently, he requests an exemption from factional discipline, effectively proposing a technical alliance.

The meeting aims to establish principles for cooperation. Saglovich insists that Abbas reiterate his acceptance of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state. Furthermore, he demands voting freedom on issues where he disagrees with the party, citing his background in the secular and liberal Yesh Atid. Saglovich emphasizes that he will not compromise on his principles, including LGBT rights and the promotion of civil service and equality in the burden of service among Arab Israelis.

This will be their second meeting. Saglovich intends to request that Ra'am approve his inclusion at the party conference on August 22, where a decision to sever ties with the Shura Council is also expected.

Calls for unity in the Arab sector

Meanwhile, following Ta'al chairman Ahmad Tibi's decision to freeze merger negotiations with Hadash and Balad, figures in the Arab sector have suggested he unite with Mansour Abbas's Ra'am. Tibi, who had been offered the second spot in the Joint List with Hadash and Balad, rejected the reconciliation committee's proposal. Sources suggest Tibi aimed to lead the Joint Arab List, citing his extensive parliamentary experience.

Following this crisis, several local council heads approached Tibi and Abbas, urging them to unite. However, such a merger faces challenges due to Abbas's plan to integrate Saglovich. Abbas has clarified that he will focus on adding new forces only after the party conference on August 21.

Conversely, Hadash and Balad have welcomed the reconciliation committee's outline. Hadash representatives stated, "Only a large, strong joint list can work to send the Netanyahu-Ben Gvir-Smotrich government home." Balad also declared the negotiation phase over, calling for the immediate establishment of political and media headquarters to prepare for the upcoming elections.
