Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Christian Blitz underwent surgery on Monday to repair a fracture in his foot. The club issued the following statement:

"The surgery was performed at the Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) by the team doctor, Dr. Dror Lindenner, director of the Unit for Sports Injuries and Arthroscopic Surgeries, together with Dr. Amit Gilad and Dr. Najeeb Shakar. The 25-year-old Serbian midfielder will now begin the rehabilitation process with the club’s medical and physiological team. Everyone at Maccabi wishes Christian a full and speedy recovery."

Blitz sustained the injury during the first match against Sheriff Tiraspol, just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute. Upon his return to the country on crutches, the club determined that the injury was distinct from the recurring issues that hampered his playing time last season. His absence is currently estimated at three to four months.

The 25-year-old was acquired by Maccabi Tel Aviv from Alkmaar this season for 1.3 million euros, following a successful loan spell last year during which he made 23 appearances across all competitions.
