"This is a reversible result": Sabah still believes after the loss to Hapoel Be'er Sheva
The Azerbaijanis lost 2:1 after having led in Romania, but in the previous round they already knew how to turn a loss in the first game into a 4:0 victory in Baku: "We will need to make them make mistakes."
Sabah took an early lead in the away game in Romania against Hapoel Be'er Sheva, but could not hold onto it and succumbed following a late goal by Igor Zlatanovic. Despite the 2:1 loss to the Israeli champion, the Azerbaijanis remain optimistic and believe that next week in Baku they can complete a comeback of their own and qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
In the Azerbaijani media, they admitted that Sabah struggled to deal with the control of Hapoel Be'er Sheva, as the opponent held the ball for long minutes and Sabah could not create enough chances.
Nevertheless, coach Valdas Dambrauskas sounded optimistic after the game:
"This is a reversible result. We have a chance. In the previous round, we lost to Aarhus with the same result, but we managed to win in Baku. In the second leg, we will need to make Hapoel Be'er Sheva make mistakes. We will need to correct our mistakes."
Dambrauskas also complimented Ran Kozuch's team: "Hapoel Be'er Sheva is a quality team. They played in a more direct way and managed to maintain their pace. We tried to maintain our pace, but the opponent put good pressure on us."
