News in brief: The Prime Minister's Office announced during the Sabbath that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire and attacked in the security zone, an incident in which three IDF soldiers were seriously wounded. In response, the IDF struck the terror headquarters that ordered the operation and a series of Hezbollah infrastructures in the areas of Ansar and Nabatieh. The PMO emphasized that Hezbollah intentionally placed civilians inside the military compound that was struck in order to use them as human shields and falsely accuse Israel. In Lebanon, they reported at least seven dead in the strikes, and the Lebanese Prime Minister strongly condemned the action and claimed that it was a dangerous escalation. Following the Israeli strikes in the south of the country, Hezbollah issued an explicit threat and warned that the actions would be met accordingly.
The incident began this morning (Saturday) when Hezbollah violated the ceasefire and carried out an operation against IDF forces in the Ali-Taher ridge area – part of the security zone where forces operate to protect the northern communities. As a result of the attack, three IDF soldiers were seriously wounded, the PMO updated in an unusual statement during the Sabbath.
The IDF Spokesperson stated that fighter jets struck a central Hezbollah headquarters in the Ansar area of southern Lebanon, which was used by the terrorist organization to command activity in the area. The army emphasized that the strike was carried out in response to the action taken by Hezbollah against IDF forces operating in the Ali-Taher ridge area within the security zone, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.
In the strike, the terrorist Ali Samir al-Hajj Hassan, a battalion commander in Hezbollah's Radwan Force unit, was eliminated. According to the army's statement, several other terrorists who were working to advance terror plots against IDF forces were eliminated along with him.
In an unusual and sharp statement issued during the Sabbath, the Prime Minister's Office clarified that it only became clear in retrospect that Hezbollah had placed civilians inside that same military compound. The PMO emphasized that the terrorist organization intentionally used them as human shields in order to falsely claim that Israel is harming civilians, while the strike was aimed at a military target only.
On the other hand, in Lebanon, they reported at least seven dead in the strikes in Ansar, as well as strikes in Deir ez-Zahrani and nearby villages. The Prime Minister of Lebanon strongly condemned the action, called it a dangerous escalation, and claimed that among the dead were women and children who are not military targets. Following the Israeli strikes, Hezbollah issued an explicit threat and warned that the actions would be met accordingly.
