Good news for the North: A new rehabilitation center with advanced medical services will be established
The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) and the Majdal Shams Council have signed a cooperation agreement to expand access to advanced health services. The initiative includes the implementation of telemedicine and the establishment of a dedicated rehabilitation center in the town.

The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) and the Majdal Shams Council have signed a cooperation agreement to promote a series of medical and educational projects aimed at expanding access to advanced health services for residents of the town and the region. Led by Ichilov's ambulatory division and health corporation, the hospital will provide telemedicine services and promote the establishment of a specialized rehabilitation center in the town.
The goal is to enable residents to receive rehabilitation and advanced medical care close to home, eliminating the need for long trips to the center of the country. Additionally, the agreement includes cooperation in research and education, with Ichilov supporting science studies for children and teenagers in partnership with the recently established science center in Majdal Shams.
From pain to a long-term partnership
The cooperation is rooted in a bond formed between the hospital and the community following the soccer field disaster in Majdal Shams about two years ago, in which many children were injured. Many of the wounded were treated at Ichilov for months, fostering a close relationship between the medical teams and the families. To honor the 12 children who died in the tragedy, a radiation therapy room for children was inaugurated at Ichilov, donated by Liora Ofer. This week, Ichilov's management visited Majdal Shams to pay their respects at the memorial recently erected on the soccer field.
Ichilov: "Making advanced medicine accessible to every resident"
CEO of the Ichilov Medical Center, Prof. Eli Sprecher, stated:
"The special bond that has formed between Ichilov and the Majdal Shams community grew out of difficult days of pain, but has turned into a true alliance of partnership, values, and mutual responsibility. As part of one health system, we see it as of supreme importance to share the excellence and knowledge of the hospital, and to make them accessible to every resident, everywhere."
According to Prof. Sprecher, the new rehabilitation center and telemedicine services will provide residents with quality and equal treatment. The head of the Majdal Shams Council, Dulan Abu Salah, added:
"It was our great honor to host the management of Ichilov, who have become a real family to us. I am full of hope that this meeting is only the beginning of a brave and important partnership that will contribute greatly to the well-being of our community."
