Thieves Steal Sentimental Vehicles From Farm of Fallen Shin Bet Hero
Masked thieves stole sentimental vehicles from the farm of fallen Shin Bet commander Yossi Tahar in Bitzaron. His widow, Liat Shor, said the stolen items were a vital link to the father who fell defending Mefalsim on October 7.
Masked intruders broke into the family farm of the late Yossi Tahar in the moshav of Bitzaron overnight between Friday and Saturday, stealing vehicles of immense sentimental value to his children. Tahar, a senior Shin Bet commander, fell in combat on October 7 while defending the community of Mefalsim.
The burglars made off with a golf cart, an ATV, and the children's dirt bike. For the family, these items represent a vital living connection and a mechanism of remembrance for their fallen father. This marks the second time the family's courtyard has been targeted by thieves.
Liat Shor, Yossi's widow, expressed the deep pain caused by the theft, noting that the vehicles were an inseparable part of their daily life and memorial bond. "This is the second time someone has broken into our yard and stolen from us, and the feeling is particularly devastating for the children," Shor said in a statement. "It feels like someone is invading our private space and taking away what little connection they have left to their father."
Yossi Tahar, who was 39 years old when he fell, left his home independently on October 7 and fought to his last bullet in Mefalsim. He remains one of only two security forces personnel whose photographs are permanently barred from publication for security reasons, alongside Lt. Col. Emmanuel Moreno, who was killed in Lebanon in 2006. Tahar's legacy is marked by profound sacrifice, following a family history that includes the loss of his uncle, Maj. Yossi Tahar, in Lebanon in 1981, and his brother Roi in a motorcycle accident.
