Bellingham's Masterclass Secures Historic Victory

Just a year ago, Jude Bellingham’s status in the England national team seemed uncertain. Thomas Tuchel left him out of the squad in October 2025, making it clear that the midfielder would not receive preferential treatment on the road to the World Cup. However, a lot has changed since then, including several stellar performances in the decisive stages of the World Cup. Following a stunning display in a 7-0 rout of Croatia in the UEFA Nations League, the English media is hailing him as a potential all-time great.

Bellingham, who has already established himself as a world-class player at Real Madrid and for England, was the driving force behind yesterday's impressive performance in Rijeka. The 23-year-fld midfielder scored a goal, provided three assists, and even wore the captain's armband after Harry Kane was substituted. For Croatia, it marked their heaviest defeat in history.

"He can become one of the greatest players of all time," declared Roy Keane, the former Manchester United and Ireland star, after the match. "Right now, he is an amazing footballer. He is the complete package — the power in his running, his passing, his goal threat. The way he is developing as a player is phenomenal, and I still think he has a lot of room to grow."

Praise from Legends and Tuchel's Vision

Bellingham, recently named England's Player of the Year for the second consecutive time, is rapidly solidifying his leadership within the squad. Former England defender Matt Upson noted that he has locked down the central attacking midfield role, while Keane highlighted his work rate off the ball. Former striker Ian Wright was equally impressed by Bellingham's relentless drive.

Thomas Tuchel acknowledged that Bellingham has reached a new level but stressed the importance of continued growth. "Yes, right now it looks that way, and you always have to reach the next level," Tuchel said. "You can't stand still. You have to evolve and push yourself, otherwise other teams will catch up."
