Around 20 masked Beitar Jerusalem supporters stormed the players' parking lot before training, throwing firecrackers and threatening players and coach Almog Cohen following two consecutive league defeats.
Around 20 masked Beitar Jerusalem supporters arrived this evening (Saturday) before the start of the training session at the players' parking lot adjacent to the locker room.
For several long minutes, they threw firecrackers, hurled insults, and threatened the team's players and head coach Almog Cohen. Beitar Jerusalem officials have confirmed the details of the incident.
This severe incident comes amid a difficult start to the season for the Jerusalem-based club, which lost its first two league matches and remains pointless. They were first defeated 4-1 by Maccabi Netanya, despite initially taking the lead, and subsequently suffered a 3-0 loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv at Bloomfield Stadium. In both matches combined, Beitar conceded seven goals while scoring only once.
Despite the poor results and mounting pressure from the fans, the club clarified after the loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv that Almog Cohen retains full backing and his position is not in jeopardy.
Club owner Barak Abramov stated:
"Almog Cohen is not going anywhere, he is a top-tier professional."
Following this serious confrontation at the training complex, the pressure surrounding the club has intensified significantly.
