Bayern Munich clarifies: Michael Olise will not be sold to Real Madrid
Sporting director Christoph Freund addressed the future of the star, who is on vacation after the World Cup: "He will play an important role this season as well." The Frenchman scored 22 goals and provided 31 assists last season.
Bayern Munich's 2-1 loss to Wehen Wiesbaden from the German third division in a friendly match revealed not only the current form of Vincent Kompany's team, but also provided a clear answer regarding the future of Michael Olise.
After the match, Bayern's sporting director, Christoph Freund, was asked about reports linking the French star to Real Madrid. "The rumors about Real Madrid? This topic does not concern us at all," Freund replied unequivocally.
Olise is still on vacation after his participation in the World Cup, but Bayern expects his return and does not intend to let him leave. "We are waiting for Michael to return from his vacation," added Freund. "He will play an important role at Bayern this season as well, just as he did last season."
The 24-year-old midfielder joined Bayern in the summer of 2024 from Crystal Palace for 53 million euros. After a successful debut, he established his status as one of the team's biggest stars, recording 22 goals and 31 assists in all competitions last season.
Despite the many reports surrounding his future, the message from Bayern is clear: Olise is not for sale, and he is expected to be one of Kompany's central players in the upcoming season as well.
