Dr. Nadine Baudot-Trajtenberg, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Israel, sharply criticized the proposal previously floated regarding bypassing international sanctions using cryptocurrencies. Speaking at a panel during the Globes conference, she stated that the digital asset realm capable of evading sanctions constitutes a dark underground network populated by drug traffickers and illicit actors, noting that such transactions are fundamentally undesirable.

Baudot-Trajtenberg emphasized that such remarks severely damage the reputation of legitimate cryptocurrencies. She explained that successful digital tokens are predominantly stablecoins pegged to traditional currencies and traded on regulated exchanges utilizing strict Know Your Customer protocols to prevent illicit capital flows.

Addressing broader economic challenges, the former central bank official warned that the Israeli economy stands at a critical juncture amid rising international boycott risks and geopolitical pressures. While institutional investors like Shimon Oliel from Altshuler Shaham note that defense contractors continue receiving robust global orders despite external rhetoric, financial experts stress the importance of prudent fiscal policies and domestic political stability to maintain investor confidence.
