Basij Commander Abdulraouf Asmaki Eliminated in Southeastern Iran

The Iranian Tasnim news agency reported that Basij commander Abdulraouf Asmaki was eliminated in a city in southeastern Iran. The news agency, which described the action as a "terrorist attack," provided no further details and stated they would be published later. The previous Basij commander, Gholamreza Soleimani, was eliminated in IDF strikes during Operation "Roaring Lion".
This report follows Iran's recent overhaul last month of the Basij's role and capabilities to meet security demands shifted by the war. For this mission, Iran recruited conservative cleric Hossein Taeb (69), a veteran security figure, to manage the organization and oversee its redefined mandate.
The Basij organization, established in the early years of the Islamic Revolution more than four decades ago, forms the core of social support for the militia. Basij members are employed in most state institutions, granting the organization a significant presence across various ministries and agencies. While most Basij members are unarmed volunteers, some Basij bases scattered across Iranian cities are equipped with military gear and maintain armed personnel.
