Aviad Sasson captured: Details on the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Binyahu Razi

The police announced today (Tuesday) the arrest of Aviad Sasson, suspected of murdering Binyahu Razi (of blessed memory), following a manhunt that had been ongoing since the crime occurred. According to the police statement, the arrest was carried out by the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District, with the assistance of the police aerial array.

Throughout the search, advanced intelligence and technological means were employed to locate the suspect, who is believed to have moved between several hideouts in the central and northern regions in an attempt to evade capture.

"The breakthrough in the investigation came after information was received that Sasson was making his way to Jerusalem in a white taxi," stated the Israel Police spokesperson.

Following this intelligence, detectives from the Jerusalem Central Unit prepared for his arrest and executed the operation in the Harel Tunnel area. Documentation released by the police shows the moment of the arrest, in which detectives are seen stopping the taxi, removing the suspect from the vehicle, subduing him, and placing him in handcuffs.

Earlier today, a 34-year-old IPS officer from Hod HaSharon was also arrested on suspicion of assisting the suspect in his escape. According to investigators, she maintained contact with Sasson's brother, who is currently serving a prison sentence, and acted through him to obstruct the investigation and aid the suspect.

Following his arrest, Sasson was transferred for interrogation at the Anti-Crime Unit of the Zion District. He is expected to be brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court later today, where police will request an extension of his detention.
