The Qatar national basketball team will begin its path to the FIBA Basketball World Cup, the "Mundobasket" 2027, which will be held in the country. As with the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar has once again built dedicated facilities and arenas to host this prestigious tournament for the first time in history. Another detail reminiscent of the football tournament is the location of the final game, which will be held at the Lusail Arena – just ten kilometers from the stadium that hosted the football final.

Unlike in football, Qatar will participate in the qualifiers despite having automatically qualified for the tournament. The president of the Qatar Basketball Federation explained that the decision to participate in the qualifiers is part of the federation's strategy to improve the level of the national team and its players ahead of the World Cup.

The president further revealed that work is ongoing regarding various organizational and technical aspects related to hosting the World Cup, including inspecting equipment and arenas designated for the games to ensure they are ready to accommodate teams and fans.
