More than 390 unmanned aerial vehicles were launched toward the Moscow region overnight Monday. The attack occurred against the backdrop of a planned meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.

The mayor noted that most of the UAVs were neutralized by air defense systems at a great distance from the city, while 81 were shot down on their direct approach to Moscow. Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported that the strike caused damage to residential buildings in the city of Chekhov and the village of Vaulovo.

This event follows a period of heightened regional tension, coming just a week after Moscow experienced its largest Ukrainian drone attack since the start of the war, when nearly 200 UAVs struck various targets across the capital. Thick columns of smoke rose into the sky during that incident, and reports indicated that 17 people were injured in the Moscow region. The latest strike marks a significant escalation in bringing the conflict deep into Russian territory.
