Assaf Rappaport Eyes Acquisition of McDonald's Israel
Following the $32 billion sale of Wiz to Google and his move to acquire Reshet 13, cyber-giant founder Assaf Rappaport is in talks to purchase the McDonald's Israel franchise, which operates 225 locations.

Assaf Rappaport, one of the founders of Wiz, may be on the verge of a new and unexpected business venture. According to a report by mako, Rappaport has been in talks with the global McDonald's corporation regarding the purchase of the franchise to operate the chain in Israel.
McDonald's Israel currently operates 225 restaurants. The global company bought back the franchise operations from Alonyal, owned by Omri Padan, in 2024. While the terms of that deal were not disclosed, McDonald's announced at the time that it would take over the restaurants and local operations while maintaining staff employment.
Rappaport is already behind one of the most significant high-tech deals in Israel's history; in March 2026, Google completed its acquisition of Wiz for $32 billion.
Should the talks with McDonald's mature into a formal agreement, it would mark another expansion for Rappaport into the business world beyond the cyber and technology sectors. Reports suggest that other parties had previously expressed interest in the Israeli franchise.
As of now, no agreement has been finalized, and the matter remains in the negotiation stage.
In parallel with the McDonald's franchise talks, Rappaport is involved in a bid to acquire control of the television channel Reshet 13. The acquisition is being conducted through the Merit Fund, a public benefit company intended to hold control of the channel.
It was revealed yesterday that funding for the acquisition is coming solely from Rappaport and Inon Costica. Other high-tech entrepreneurs, including those from Wix, monday.com, and Riskified, had previously held discussions about joining the bid but ultimately did not transfer funds to the acquisition vehicle.
Under the proposed outline, the financiers have committed to injecting $120 million over three years. The Second Authority, which is reviewing the request for the transfer of ownership, has requested detailed information regarding the identity of the investors and the funds transferred to the fund. Any additional investor joining in the future will also be subject to reporting and approval requirements. A final decision on the transfer of control is expected following the completion of the Authority's review.
