A 37-year-old resident of southern Israel has filed a complaint with the Department of Investigation of Police (Mahash), alleging he was severely beaten by three Yasam tactical officers following a dispute at an Ashkelon beach. According to the victim, identified as D., the incident began in the early hours of September 18 after an argument broke out when a female acquaintance wished to leave the beach while he wanted to stay.

Brutal Assault and Detention

D. claims the woman summoned friends who are police officers. A vehicle arrived carrying three individuals in tactical police gear. D. recognized one of them through his acquaintance. According to his testimony, the officer called him by name, pushed him, and all three began beating him severely without identifying themselves or explaining their actions. Despite trying to question them, D. was knocked to the ground and beaten further, even after being handcuffed.

He was subsequently taken to the Ashkelon police station, where he remained cuffed hand and foot behind bars for hours without immediate medical attention, despite bleeding and begging for help. When his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to a hospital under police guard, where doctors diagnosed severe facial fractures. D. underwent surgeries and multiple hospitalizations, and now suffers from ongoing vision impairment.

Legal Response and Official Stance

Instead of defusing the situation, the officers chose to turn a personal matter into a rampage of violence.

Advocate Dmitry Dogman, representing D. through the Public Defender's Office, sharply criticized the conduct. The Israel Police stated that upon receiving the complaint, the material was transferred to Mahash, preventing further comment. Mahash confirmed that the case is under review.
