Mature Olive Tree Relocated from Tel Aviv to Ariel Sharon Park
A mature olive tree over five meters tall was successfully relocated from Tel Aviv to Ariel Sharon Park in a joint environmental initiative to preserve urban trees.

A mature olive tree standing over five meters tall has found a new home at Ariel Sharon Park, following a complex logistical operation carried out in cooperation with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality. The unusual relocation was undertaken to preserve the veteran tree, which had to be removed from its original location due to urban planning and construction needs in Tel Aviv.
To prepare for the journey, the massive tree underwent extensive pruning before being loaded onto a crane truck and transported to the green park. Park crews dug a pit approximately two meters deep to receive the specimen, hoisting it into place with a crane. The tree has now been connected to an irrigation system, receiving daily watering to help it take root in the soil.
Oz Agbaba of the Ariel Sharon Park management emphasized the importance of the environmental initiative. "The cooperation with the Tel Aviv municipality and other local authorities allows us to promote significant environmental action, provide a new home for mature trees, and preserve natural resources alongside urban development," Agbaba said.
This is not the first time the park has absorbed displaced trees. During the conflict, the park also welcomed trees relocated from impact sites to save them from environmental damage. Ariel Sharon Park continues to serve as a vital green lung for the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, ensuring that urban expansion does not come at the permanent expense of mature urban flora.
