From Toronto to Haifa: The Haifa International Film Festival announced today, Thursday, that its opening film will be "Our Loves" — the new feature by director Avi Nesher centered on the events of October 7. The film will launch the 42nd edition of the festival, running in the city from September 26 to October 3. During the event, Nesher will be presented with a lifetime achievement award for his cinematic excellence and contribution to Israeli culture.

"Our Loves" follows seven distinct characters whose lives were deeply affected by the events of October 7. The film features an ensemble cast including Shalom Michaelshvili, Magi Azarzar, Yaniv Biton, Noa Cohen, Hadas Yaron, Evelin Hagoel, Lena Fraifeld, and rising star Daniel Gimpel, who has received an Ophir Award nomination for her performance. Prior to its Haifa screening, the film will hold its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Centerpiece section, which highlights prominent works from around the globe. It is scheduled for a wide theatrical release in Israel throughout October.
