One of the veteran journalists at News 13 is ending his tenure at the company: Hezi Simantov, head of the Arab affairs desk and Arab affairs analyst, is expected to finish his role soon after more than 20 years of activity at the news organization.
According to a report by Gil Mesheli, Simantov will conclude his role in the near future. While his next destination has not yet been disclosed, sources familiar with the details stated that he is currently examining several offers.
Simantov joined Channel 10 in 2002, following his military service in the Medical Corps and Middle Eastern studies at Bar-Ilan University. He began his career at the Arab affairs desk and later served as a territories correspondent and desk manager.
During his years of work, he covered a series of major security events, including the Second Lebanon War, operations 'Cast Lead', 'Pillar of Defense', and 'Protective Edge', the release of Gilad Shalit, and the 'Iron Swords' war. In 2019, he continued to News 13 as part of the merger of Reshet and Channel 10, and in 2024, he was appointed head of the Arab affairs desk following the departure of Zvi Yehezkeli to the news company i24NEWS.
Simantov's departure comes amidst a series of recent changes at News 13. Alongside the exit of other employees, the channel is in the midst of a process of transferring control to a group of investors backed by Assaf Rappaport, following a deal signed to acquire control of Reshet 13, currently subject to the completion of required approvals.
