After penalties: Khalaili and Saint-Gilloise won the Super Cup

Anan Khalaili won tonight, Friday, perhaps his last title with Union Saint-Gilloise, as his team defeated Club Brugge in a penalty shootout after a 1:1 draw in regulation time to lift the Belgian Super Cup.
Khalaili, who had hoped to be with another team by this stage after his move to Inter fell through recently despite completing medical tests, is expected to part ways with his club, but he did so in style by scoring in the penalty shootout.
The Israeli came off the bench in the 61st minute while his team was trailing following a 49th-minute goal by Nicolo Tresoldi. In the 77th minute, Kevin Mac Allister equalized to make it 1:1. In the ensuing shootout, Khalaili was accurate from the spot. Chevio Tsawa of Brugge was the only player to miss, securing a 4:5 victory for Saint-Gilloise.
Notably, Relebohile Mokoena, who was linked last summer to Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa, scored the decisive penalty. Khalaili, who has been courted by Nottingham Forest, may find himself in the Premier League later this season.
Elsewhere, Liam Hermesh started for Grazer and was substituted in the 71st minute as his team suffered a 3:0 loss to LASK in the Austrian league opener. Additionally, Nikita Stoianov played the full 90 minutes in Dinamo Bucharest's 1:1 draw against Otelul in the Romanian league.
