After European success: Hapoel Be'er Sheva to revisit foreign player targets
The club believes that qualifying for at least the Europa League and the resulting financial influx will boost efforts to sign a center-back and an attacking midfielder, allowing them to re-engage with players who previously declined offers or were deemed too expensive.
Hapoel Be'er Sheva returned to Israel on Wednesday following their impressive performance in Belgrade. There is great euphoria within the club after securing two victories over the Serbian champions, Red Star Belgrade, but the team is not settling for this success. Focus has already shifted to the Azerbaijani champions, Sabah, whom Hapoel will face twice with the goal of making history and qualifying for the Champions League.
Even qualifying for the Europa League in its current format, which includes eight matches outside of Israel, is a massive milestone for the club. Since yesterday, management has intensified efforts to strengthen the squad with two additional foreign players: a center-back and an attacking midfielder.
Following the significant funds that will now enter the club's coffers, Hapoel Be'er Sheva intends to revisit foreign players they targeted in recent weeks. Previously, these deals failed for two main reasons: the transfer fees demanded by their clubs did not fit Hapoel's budget, and the players were reluctant to move to Israel to join a team not competing in major European tournaments.
Now, with the team guaranteed at least a spot in the Europa League, the club believes that both the players and their respective teams will be more open to reaching an agreement with Alona Barkat's side.
