After 'beating him up': 4 teenagers arrested for attacking a cinema usher in Rehovot

Four teenagers aged 15-16 from Rehovot were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of attacking an 18-year-old usher at the 'Hot Cinema' about a week and a half ago. The altercation began after the employee reprimanded the group for disturbing viewers during a screening of the movie 'Kupa Rashit'.

The mother of the victim stated:

'We live in fear of speaking up. This is abandonment.'

During the film, the four teenagers smoked an electronic cigarette, caused a disturbance, and reacted with aggression toward other viewers. When the usher intervened to perform his duties, the teenagers attacked him, striking him in the face. He was treated at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot and released the following day. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, but were arrested at their homes today. Police intend to bring them to court tomorrow to request an extension of their detention.

A couple present during the incident shared their account on social media:

'Sitting in front of us was a group of teenagers who did not stop smoking an electronic cigarette the entire movie. When the usher demanded they leave, about six teenagers jumped on him and, to put it mildly, beat him to the point where his whole face was bleeding and his whole body was bruised. Where have we reached? How does it make sense to be afraid to go to the cinema?'

The witness also noted that the cinema shares security with the mall, resulting in a delayed response time. Attorney Yaron Forer, representing one of the teenagers, stated in response:

'My client is a very young student who was himself attacked by the security guard. He did not attack him, and certainly did not break his nose. I am astonished as to why the police chose to arrest young minors with no criminal record for an incident from two weeks ago.'
