After the storm: Mia Khalifa explains why she is "anti-Messi" — and of course it’s connected to us
Following a series of posts against the Argentina team and support for Spain in the World Cup final, as well as an incident involving singer Rusliya, the controversial star replied to followers: "Don’t forget that I’m also anti-Zionist."
Mia Khalifa has explained why she campaigned against the Argentina team throughout the 2026 World Cup — and, naturally, it is connected to Israel. After an Argentine follower claimed she had been anti-Messi and anti-Argentina since the start of the tournament, the controversial star responded:
"Hey! Don’t forget I’m also anti-Zionist."
In another response, she was more specific regarding Argentina. When a follower pointed out that she was wearing a Barcelona shirt in a photo — the club where Lionel Messi played for years — Khalifa wrote: "I had an Argentina shirt until they stole the match from Egypt."
Khalifa is referring to the Round of 16 match in which Argentina defeated Egypt 3:2, after the Egyptians protested several refereeing decisions that they believed led to the victory of Lionel Scaloni’s side. Following that match, Khalifa wrote: "Now I’m completely Egyptian," and she maintained her stance against Argentina until the final, where she cheered for Spain.
It did not end there; Khalifa also entangled Spanish singer Rusliya with the Argentine crowd. Rusliya shared a TikTok post by Khalifa celebrating Argentina’s loss to Spain in the final following on-pitch confrontations. In the video, Khalifa danced to Rusliya’s song "La Perla," captioning it: "That’s how life sounds now when the 'pearls' have been defeated."
Rusliya quickly deleted the post, but it was enough for Argentine fans to remind her of her upcoming performances in the country. She subsequently apologized, writing: "I only shared it because she put the song 'La Perla.' I didn’t even read what she wrote. My mistake. Sorry!"
