Just a few months after being charged with assault, the notorious Hollywood star refused mental health treatment and returned to daily alcohol consumption, despite the rehabilitation he underwent.
Three months after the controversial Hollywood star Shia LaBeouf (39) was arrested in New Orleans and formally charged with three counts of assault, new legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the actor admitted to law enforcement that he drinks alcohol on a daily basis.
Last February, during the Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, the actor was arrested after being involved in a violent brawl outside a bar. He was filmed shirtless, allegedly attacking an employee at the venue and striking a passerby. Last May, he was charged with three counts of simple assault, and after pleading guilty, he was sentenced to two years of probation along with a mandatory requirement to attend an anger management workshop and addiction treatment.
However, probation officer reports now reveal a complex picture: alongside cooperation and the presentation of certificates regarding progress in treatment, LaBeouf refused to receive mental health care and has returned to the bottle. The data stands in complete contrast to a 2022 interview, in which he boasted about the rehabilitation he underwent and claimed he had been sober for 600 days — no small amount of time for him.
Associates of the actor have previously expressed great skepticism regarding his chances of recovery, calling the treatment a 'celebrity punishment,' and warned that he is a master manipulator whose behavior could end in a tragic conclusion.
