After claiming "I was never violent": Developments in the investigation of singer Ofek Adank

About two weeks ago, the singer Ofek Adank was summoned for questioning under caution at the police station in Rishon LeZion, on suspicion of alleged involvement in violence against his partner. Now, the police have announced that they will transfer the investigation file to the State Attorney's Office in the coming days for the purpose of filing an indictment.

The investigation began when the singer's partner filed a complaint, claiming that he threatened her and broke her car window. As a result, the singer was brought in for questioning. The police collected testimonies which indicated at the initial stage that the couple had argued, and at some point, it was claimed that the complainant ran over the singer — a claim that was examined by the police.

On Monday of that week, Adank uploaded a post to his Instagram page, in which he revealed that he was the suspect. In the post, Adank wrote:

"My brothers and sisters, it is important to me that you hear things directly from me, without intermediaries and without false headlines. The last few days have been complex for me. I experienced a breakup from a relationship that was full of powerful love. As part of a private argument with my former partner, I was injured in my leg. Out of the pain and the storm of that moment, the argument became charged and stormy."

Adank continued:

"It is important for me to say in a clear and unequivocal way, I have never been and will never be violent, not towards her, not towards any woman, and not towards any person. Respect for a person and for women is a supreme value in my life. The court reviewed all the details, understood the full picture, and ordered my release. At the end of the day, beyond the music and the stage, I am a human being. Arguments are part of the life of every couple."

After the post was published, his former partner, internet star Hadas Masuri, also responded:

"The last few days have been harder for me than can be explained in words. The moments I went through are still echoing, I am still trying to process, calm down and collect myself, and find my sense of security again. In the coming days, the police investigation will be completed, and I trust the police and the State Attorney's Office. I will also address the lies, the distortions, and the toxic messaging page that is being spread about me without stopping, don't worry. In the meantime, I choose not to be dragged into it. The truth does not need noise."

It was also reported that after Adank revealed he was the suspect, the Dimona Municipality decided to cancel his performance that was planned for the end of the summer.

This evening (Thursday), another development occurred in the case when the police announced that they would transfer the investigation file to the State Attorney's Office in the coming days for an indictment. The suspicion attributed to him: assault offenses.
