Apple Releases iOS 27 with Conversational Siri and Advanced AI Tools
Apple has released iOS 27, featuring conversational Siri powered by Google Gemini, advanced Apple Intelligence tools, and deep system-wide performance enhancements.

Apple has officially released iOS 27, bringing a massive wave of new features, performance upgrades, and the expanded rollout of Apple Intelligence and conversational Siri capabilities. The update is available for all devices that previously supported iOS 26, spanning from the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation) onward. However, advanced artificial intelligence capabilities remain limited to newer hardware models.
Conversational Siri and Google Gemini Models
The most significant overhaul in iOS 27 centers on a deeply conversational digital assistant powered by foundational models developed in collaboration with Google's Gemini technology. The new Search or Ask interface replaces the traditional Spotlight screen, allowing users to interact via the Dynamic Island through typing or voice commands. Siri now possesses contextual awareness across messages, emails, photos, notes, and calendars, executing app actions seamlessly.
A dedicated Siri application organizes past conversations in a card-style interface, synchronizing securely via iCloud across Apple devices, including AirPods and CarPlay. Advanced local models enable a more natural, expressive voice with adjustable pacing, though this feature is exclusive to the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro series and newer. Additionally, the Write with Siri tool assists with drafting, editing, tone adjustment, and proofreading directly within text fields, while Visual Intelligence in the camera app provides real-time analysis of nutritional values, business cards, and text.
Apple Intelligence Across System Apps
Generative AI integration extends deeply into native applications. The Photos app introduces Spatial Reframing for post-shot composition adjustments, AI-powered image expansion, and an upgraded Clean Up tool for removing background objects. Safari gains topic-based tab organization, automated webpage monitoring via Notify Me, and free-form text extension creation. Meanwhile, Image Playground and Genmoji allow users to generate custom imagery and refined, editable emojis.
Shortcuts can now be created using natural language descriptions, and Home app users with iCloud+ subscriptions benefit from AI-generated video summaries of HomeKit Secure Video feeds. Natural language processing has also been integrated into Calendar, Mail, and Phone apps to streamline event scheduling, context-aware suggestions, and live call details.
Performance Enhancements and Child Safety Tools
Beyond artificial intelligence, iOS 27 introduces the Liquid Glass design language, improving system-wide readability and contrast with adjustable transparency controls. Apple reports accelerated performance metrics, including up to 30 percent faster app launches compared to the iPhone 11, 70 percent faster photo library loading times, and an 80 percent boost in AirDrop transfer speeds.
Comprehensive child safety updates include streamlined parental control configurations, the Ask to Browse feature for website approvals, expanded Communication Safety tools for blurring sensitive media, and refined Screen Time management dashboards. While core system updates apply universally, full AI capabilities require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer and an English interface language setting.
