Anat Waxman, one of Israel's most esteemed actresses, has been dealing in recent years with a new professional reality in which it is harder to make a living from acting alone. In an interview with ynet, she spoke candidly about her financial situation and the decision to start preparing actors for auditions.

Waxman, who decided to offer her services to actors at the beginning of their careers, clarified that for her, this is another way to work and earn a living, and not a retirement from the world of acting.

"No, I have no such intention, it's simply another way to earn a living. At the moment, I cannot make a living just from acting," she said.

She later revealed that she has another source of income that has allowed her financial stability. "I have the pension I set up thanks to Ohad, and I can live off it, but an extra income certainly wouldn't hurt," she said, referring to her ex-husband, actor Ohad Shahar.

According to her, after four decades in the industry, she no longer feels the need to chase every role. "I don't have to jump into another production immediately. It's not burning me," she said. "40 years of career are on one hand years full of satisfaction and pleasure, but also very tiring."

Waxman also addressed the difficulty for actresses her age to find suitable roles. "At 65, I'm not old enough for elderly roles, and not young enough to play young women. I'm stuck between ages," she said.

Regarding the decision to offer audition preparation, she said: "I'm good at it, and I've already done it in the past successfully, and I decided that instead of staring into space and being bored, it's better that I do something productive with myself."

It seems the move is already starting to yield results. "I've had three people so far, and I believe more will come," said Waxman, who is now trying to turn her vast professional experience into an additional source of income.
