Lt. Col. Aryeh Amidror, the son of retired Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror who formerly served as head of the NSC, has been identified as the intelligence officer for the Gaza Division on October 7. The Supreme Court lifted the gag order on his name on Thursday following a petition by Ynet.

Amidror is facing dismissal proceedings from the IDF, nearly three years after the Hamas massacre. The Chief of Staff previously determined that Amidror bears responsibility for the failures leading up to the events. The court ruled that there was no security impediment to publishing his name, citing public interest and social media leaks.

Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit stated that the public interest favors publication regarding a key intelligence figure during the historic tragedy. The investigation led by retired Maj. Gen. Sami Turgeman concluded that the Gaza Division failed to properly assess threats, ignored the Jericho Wall operational plan, and neglected warning signs.

Amidror's legal team has contested the dismissal, arguing it is discriminatory and harms his retirement rights. He claimed he assumed the role just four months before the outbreak and challenged prevailing intelligence assumptions. Families of fallen soldiers, including Eyal Eshel, have previously confronted his family members over accountability for the security failures.
